Holston Gases buys Knoxville site for $1.8M; plans expansion

Holston Gases purchased a former industrial site for $1.8 million to expand its business in Knoxville.

The company is buying the vacant Brookside Mills' 19.4-acre industrial site on Baxter Avenue.

The area around Brookside, along the Interstate 275 corridor, is a mix of commercial, industrial and residential properties. There are railroad tracks and a Knox County Highway Department facility northeast of the property.

Holston Gases, which is headquartered in Knoxville, supplies industrial, medical, propane, and beverage gases in the U.S.

Holston has 22 locations in Tennessee and three other states: Kentucky, Alabama, and North Carolina. It serves customers in Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, and Indiana.

It was founded in 1958 in Knoxville by Pat Baxter and Bob Walsh.
